Born in Baguio City, Philippines, Ed Araquel moved to Canada and developed a love for photography after winning a Pentax ME Super film camera in high school. Ed went on to study Engineering Physics at McMaster University. Afterwards he worked at various high tech jobs in Canadian Pacific, NCR, AT&T and the Mayo Clinic.
At the Mayo Clinic, his high school love of photography was rekindled and he would often shoot sports, bands, dance and theatre in his off-time developing a range of shooting skills.
Shortly after moving to Vancouver Canada, Araquel entered into the world of shooting stills on film sets. Since 2003, Araquel has lent his still photography talents to more than one hundred and seventy films and TV productions including THE X_FILES, PRISON BREAK, DEAD BOY DETECTIVES, GI JOE – SNAKEYES, WELCOME TO MARWEN, THE INTERVIEW, and HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS. Araquel has worked alongside such prominent actors and directors as Robert Zemeckis, Lee Toland Krieger, Henry Golding, Simon Pegg, Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Goldberg, Bruce Willis, Seth Rogen, Jo Koy, and M. Night Shyamalan.
In 2014, Araquel was invited to join the prestigious organization of Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers. His works have been exhibited, with other SMPSP members, internationally including gallery showings in Los Angeles, Prague, and Havana plus several books published by the SMPSP.
